Abstract

Alexandria considered as the second largest urban governorates in Egypt, which covers a total area of (2299.7 km) out of which (1675.5 km) populated with more than Four Million people. Alexandria governorate divided into seven areas as follows: (Al MONTAZA DISTRICT, EAST DISTRICT, MIDDLE DISTRICT, GOMROK DISTRICT, GARB DISTRICT, AMERYA DISTRICT and ALBORG DISTRICT). Alexandria has (36) Youth Centers distributed asymmetric with those districts. This study uses the technique of remote sensing and GIS with intensive fieldwork in order to draw quality accurately that includes distribution of youth centers geographically, ensure the spatial distribution as well as their role in serving population in each district. The research used the satellite (Spot – 4) for the year 2009 with differential power of (10 m). During the fieldwork to locate each youth center, the research located precisely their location using GPS as well as gathering of supporting information MATIC MAPS, General Census of Population and Environmental Information in the districts all of which led to merger of this information to establish digital database and preparation of digital map for youth centers and their characteristics. The research revealed that the locations of youth centers did not follow the urban standards planning of Alexandria governorate. Therefore, the research recommended taking into account establishing new youth centers based on scientific basic.
